Our First Salon

The team at Sage Haircare is super excited to announce the opening of our first ever salon here in the capital city of Wales, Cardiff. It’s the result of over two years detailed research and planning (see our Story page for more on this).

This new salon is located at:

121 St Fagans Rd, Fairwater - Cardiff CF5 3AF

We chose this location because it’s really easy for you to access from anywhere in Cardiff. It’s only 1 minute from the A48 Western Avenue, just over 5 minutes from the Heath Hospital, and less than 10 minutes from the Principality Stadium. What’s more there’s plenty of free on-street parking outside the salon and our appointments-only system means that there should always be space for you. If you prefer public transport, then we’re around 5 minutes walk from Waun Gron Station on the City Line. Alternatively, Cardiff Buses 61 and 64 stop right outside!

As you can see, the salon has a clean, minimalist aesthetic with highlights in our brand colour. We have used contemporary grey with white to give a professional, warm vibe and our studio-quality lighting system illuminates the four chairs perfectly. However, as well as having rigorous safety and hygiene routines in place to meet with Covid-19 regulations and to minimise risks of infection, we will be opening the business with just two barbers so that we can also maintain good social distancing for you, our clients.
Much of the inspiration for the salon’s design came from the work of Dieter Rams, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieter_Rams) the creative director and lead designer of Braun consumer products who developed ’10 Points of Good Design’ – among them the need for design to be innovative, useful, aesthetic and minimal. It was Rams who inspired the then chief designer of Apple, Jony Ive (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jony_Ive) to come up with the design of the iPod and iPhone and many other products We felt that as an innovative brand, we needed an innovative salon design.
The design and layout of the salon play a big part in helping us to deliver a safe, precise and time-saving haircut for you. All our services are completed in either 30 or 60 minutes to appointment and we pride ourselves in always having the barber chair ready for you; so our small waiting area is ample for those who might be a few minutes early or for those waiting for family members or friends.

Around the chair is where you will see some major innovations. Most noticeably, all our tools have been moved behind the client to give an open and creative space – more comfortable for the you, the client, and more space for the barber to move freely. Our unique hairdryer pillars and cordless clippers eliminate trip hazards, making your visit safer. Finally, although we are still willing to take cash, our contactless payment system makes payment quicker, simpler and safer for you.
